  • James Whatley · 6 months ago
This video, shot entirely on the N97, is worth a look.

Thats actually really good quality. I had an N95, N82 and am now on an N85 and the video on those look nothing like this.
  • Mac Morrison · 6 months ago
    heres my sorry effort...
    slower, clumsier, softer, quieter

(update - i've fixed the audio, sadly my britain's got extreme makeover fashion fix appointment isn't til next year
so its still as visually ugly!)

I've decided to write a poem for my first Entry: I live in the UK :-)

    My poem about "Really Mobile"

    Read about the N97 everyday
    Email about the N97 everyday
    Ask about the N97 everyday
    Long for the N97 everyday
    Look at the N97 everyday
    Yern for the N97 everyday

    Must have the N97
Only phone I love is the N97
Bascially I will cry if I don't have the N97
I love the N97 so much
    Life is about the N97
Everyday without the N97 is really a bad mobile day
  • chris · 6 months ago
Hi Ben, I'm not sure how to tak on here, so I'm tagging my poem in this reply :-) I hope I win the 'reallymobile’ during the ‘weekofwin
  • Ben Smith · 6 months ago
Chris, That's fine :-) Good luck. Ben.
  • vikkichowney · 6 months ago
    I *actually* love this.

'Basically, I will cry if I don't have the N97'... genius

  • Ricky Chotai · 6 months ago
thanks for a good song, I have heard it before anyone know where?
  • vikkichowney · 6 months ago
Great track... but how easy it is to type 'Mobile' into Spotify and see what comes up? ;)
  • JCRivas · 6 months ago
Great Ben, thanks for allowing participations out of UK :) I'll try my best.
    Best regards
  • BarneyC · 6 months ago
What drives me to be really mobile? The fact I'm too cheap to pay for an office in the UK coz rates are obscene #reallymobile #weekofwin

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm experiencing issues with the Player, its not dispalying fully, thus cannot play, and listen.
  • Ben Smith · 6 months ago
Sorry you're having problems - it's working fine for me on all the platforms I've tested it on.

If you follow the text link underneath the player that says "Listen: “Announcing: The Really Mobile Project ‘Week Of Win’“" you'll be taken to the AudioBoo site which is also mobile-friendly where you can also listen to it.... All the key rules and info are in the text tho'.
  • Micky · 6 months ago
Thanks Ben, i will try that then. Cheers.

Edit, cannot see where to listen to the audioboo on there either. Im using Firefox, and Vista. Not sure what the problem is. I will try viewing in IE8

This is all I can see at the moment..

  • Ben Smith · 6 months ago
Looks like IE8 (really, you choose to use IE? ;-) ) is breaking AudioBoo's player. If the link to the main AudioBoo site doesn't work I've added a direct link to the MP3 into the post too.

are all the from twitter posts on here that look like this:
"Introducing the Really Mobile Week of Win! - http://trmp.tv/?p=700 - Top prize is a Nokia N97! #weekofwin #reallymobile"
are they entries, if so how can we view them>?
  • Ben Smith · 6 months ago
No that's Disqus (the comment system) importing people's tweets about this post - they're not entries... just people re-tweeting our announcement.
  • Guy Clapperton · 6 months ago
No idea how to link to an individual Tweet, but I've just Tweeted:

#weekofwin #reallymobile What makes me really mobile, no, *really* mobile, is a working set of legs, elderly though they are by now.
  • Ben Smith · 6 months ago
You can find the link for an individual tweet by clicking on the time it was posted, but copying it in above is fine too!

I must say I sat here for a good 10mins simply admiring the design of your blog Gnarly Panda.

    Very, very good.

    *impressed*
  • thegnarlypanda · 6 months ago
No need to be too impressed, it's simply an iWeb template. But I do agree it is a good design.

Last one for this week. Part III - http://jimwild.net/index.php/2009/06/12/being-r...
  • chris · 6 months ago
I love your work Jim, just some advice. I think you need to be careful which one of these is your entry as I think Ben mentioned that multiple entries from the same person need to be different. Not sure if that means different or different style. Might need some clarification on that...
  • Ben Smith · 6 months ago
This is fine - it's one entry in lots of parts... My comment was to ensure people didn't just post the same identical thing many times over.

    Good work Jim!
  • DanLane · 6 months ago
    Fantastic :)

You know, we're looking for a new logo ;)
  • jimwild · 6 months ago
Thanks, I will come up with some ideas if you like.

Just to clarify I guess these are just different parts of one entry, I was having fun and thought I would share :)
  • vikkichowney · 6 months ago
Stupidly cute mobile characters remind me of My Milk Toof. Love it. http://mymilktoof.blogspot.com/
  • jimwild · 6 months ago
Well I wouldn't have though these could be classed an entry but i'm posting them for your viewing pleasure anyway. Let me know what you think.

@MickyFin I use dabr from my PC in daytime due to the larger screen and keyboard! If only I had an N97 I could be #ReallyMobile #WeekofWin

Hello,I am not a poet or a singer, or an artist, so i feel at a loss in this competition - but you cant win it if your not in it!!!! ;-)
so for my 1st entry i will try the traditional beg, grovel, weep option! :-(
"What makes me really mobile" is my LOVE for all things NOKIA!! - I have an N95 and an N800, and like a lot of people have eagerly awaited the N97 since i got the N95!!, but since I failed in the 'search for N' by ONLY 15 Mins!!! :-( I went to Cadnam Cricket Club in dorset - which is where the co-ordinates took me, but i was beaten to it!.......Then YOU are my ONLY HOPE, cos as a BANKRUPT - I cant get a NEW PHONE CONTRACT! :-(
So.... I throw myself at your feet!! ;-) - please remember this post if i can make you laugh later!! ;-) God Bless, Kevin <>< #reallymobile #weekofwin
P.S. I am in the UK (Poole, Dorset)

    Entry #2
'What would make me REALLY mobile' would be to try the following! ;-)

It seems that a former Air Force sergeant had somehow got hold of a JATO (Jet Assisted Take-Off) unit. JATO units are solid fuel rockets used to give heavy military transport airplanes an extra push for take-off from short airfields.

Dried desert lakebeds are the location of choice for breaking the world ground vehicle speed record. The sergeant took the JATO unit into the Arizona desert and found a long, straight stretch of road. He attached the JATO unit to his car, jumped in, accelerated to a high speed, and fired off the rocket.

The facts, as best as could be determined, are as follows:

The operator was driving a 1967 Chevy Impala. He ignited the JATO unit approximately 3.9 miles from the crash site. This was established by the location of a prominently scorched and melted strip of asphalt. The vehicle quickly reached a speed of between 250 and 300 mph and continued at that speed, under full power, for an additional 20-25 seconds. The soon-to-be pilot experienced G-forces usually reserved for dog-fighting F-14 jocks under full afterburners.

The Chevy remained on the straight highway for approximately 2.6 miles (15-20 seconds) before the driver applied the brakes, completely melting them, blowing the tires, and leaving thick rubber marks on the road surface. The vehicle then became airborne for an additional 1.3 miles, impacted the cliff face at a height of 125 feet, and left a blackened crater 3 feet deep in the rock.

Most of the driver's remains were not recovered; however, small fragments of bone, teeth, and hair were extracted from the crater, and fingernail and bone shards were removed from a piece of debris believed to be a portion of the steering wheel.

Ironically a still-legible bumper sticker was found, reading
"How do you like my driving? Dial 1-800-EAT-SHIT."
    (Thanks to the DARWIN AWARDS)

*** NOW, if he had a Nokia N97, he could have used the GPS to see how fast he was going & fllmed the whole thing on the CAMERA!! - Now THAT i would like to see on YOUTUBE!! ;-) ***

OMG... If that doesn't become a real add on TV I'll have to send a letter to someone, that is AMAZING...
Well done and even though I have entered I really really hope that you win...
you have just made my day that was really awesome ...
  • jimwild · 6 months ago
    Fantastic!
  • vikkichowney · 6 months ago
    Round of applause Sir :)
  • JCRivas · 6 months ago
Very nice :) Is it inspired by the N-Gage's stop motion snake ad?:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYzLWr5thTg
  • David Carrington · 6 months ago
Not sure if I've seen that one or not, I did watch a lot of stop motion videos on YouTube a few months back. It was James recently sharing on Google Reader this link about time lapse photography that probably made me think about it:
    http://permanentbetablog.blogspot.com/2009/06/l...

My original plans were far more ambitious - I was hoping to re-enact the Top Gun movie end dog fight sequence with mobiles!
  • James Whatley · 6 months ago
Me? I love a good stop motion video...

Ok, so I was off work today and baking with the kids today, and clearly my baking skills leave a bit to be desired:

But here's a mobile so good you can eat it...

  • DanLane · 6 months ago
I'm afraid cake-based entries don't count unless I get to eat it (yes, all of it)... I believe you know where to send the cake from that time you spent an entire month following me around :P
  • Mac Morrison · 6 months ago

Here is my entry describing why I'm NOT really mobile, after a bevy of complicated ideas I decided to keep it simple, and resort to begging :) It's all something that just was run off the top of my head in one take (minus a bit where I totally dried up of words!).

    Enjoy.

Oh word of warning - there is the use of the 'f' word - i'm passionate about being really mobile ya see :)
